In Safety and Productivity

About Us

Rural Training Australia (RTA) is a family owned, private training organisation, actively involved in food production and the agriculture industry since 2001.

Dave (Senior) and Kathy Rock began Rural Training Australia with 15 agriculture trainees spread across the Western Australia wheat belt.
Today the company has evolved into a national organisation and has delivered onsite qualifications to more than 1500 trainees as tractor operators, bore runners, head stockmen, managers, fence builders, jackaroos and jillaroos. They have also expanded the operation to encompass the vast northern regions of Western Australia, the Northern Territory and outback Queensland.

Continual growth meant that we had to look for staff to assist in training, administration and audit compliance. Fortunately our 2 children had by this time experienced life and developed strong work ethics.
They agreed to help us.

Daughter Kylie runs the engine room of our business and enjoys the interaction with clients.
Born and bred in the wheat belt, Kylie married a wheat, sheep and cattle farmer. She has 3 sons and is a member of her local Agricultural Society.

Our son Dave runs his own farming operation in the Kimberley with his wife and daughters.

Kylie and Dave fully understand Agriculture by experiencing the hardships and rewards from living on the land, knowing more about drought than rain. Both are invaluable members of the Rural Training Australia team.

We are fortunate in having long term Trainer/Assessors and support staff to help us achieve our aim to be the preferred training provider in Agriculture related industries.

Our Trainers are all fully experienced in stock and horse handling, cattle processing, machinery operations, property repair and maintenance, fencing, drafting , seeding, harvesting etc.

Training your workers in Safety and Productivity is also paramount.

Our support staff are office based and help the trainers behind the scenes with paperwork and audit compliance.

Service Delivery

We service the Agriculture and Feedlot industries in Queensland, Northern Territory and WA, mainly for Beef Production, i.e. stations and feedlots.

We also service the Thoroughbred Racing Industry in WA & the NT.

We deliver our training and assessment services 100% at your workplace

Our National Training Organisation has provided the traineeship Program for 18 years, predominately in the Beef Cattle Pastoral sector.

We only engage Trainer/Assessors that have exclusive Agriculture knowledge and skills. This assists us in keeping our industry knowledge current and up to date.

We are contracted by the Government Training Departments in Queensland, Northern Territory & WA.

We are members of ALFA as we recognised a few years ago that the Industry required a private workplace provider to deliver Certificate III in Feedlot Operations to give the client choice.

We do not do simulated training unless at the employers request.

Our preference is to attend the workplace regularly and work beside the staff members whilst they are doing real jobs. This minimises any effect on productivity. This method also minimises the classroom situation and helps to build a good repour.

All workers that enrol in Certificate III in Feedlot Operations with us are eligible to apply for the Zoetis medal.

Our role is to support the workplaces operation & method of doing things, not to go against them. The trainers do not come to you dictating how a job should be done. They work in with your method of operation.

Strong assessment processes. Our trainers will work with you to further improve your workers skill.

Additional benefits for your Company to provide this training service to your staff are;

  • Assists towards WHS Worksafe compliance as a duty of care for the employer is to provide training.
  • Minimal disruption to productivity.
  • Marketing benefits and Quality Assurance for your Company. All staff qualified in Feedlot Ops, Agriculture & Beef Production.
  • Payroll tax exemption may apply
  • Some workers may attract federal incentives of up to $4000 for the employer.

There are no hidden costs. We only charge the compulsory minimum Queensland or WA Training Department fee.

No enrolment, material or other fees.
